Indica Vs Sativa - What's the Difference?

Updated: Dec 30, 2020

So, you’re looking to start smoking, you have seen that there are many benefits to smoking Weed, Marijuana, Ganja, the Devils Lettuce, Mary-Jane, Skunk, Reefa, Chronic...There is much more information on THC levels, hybrid strains etc...however, this is focused towards the individuals who have little to no knowledge on marijuana.

However, you are not sure where to start, or what the effects of smoking weed will have on your body...let’s change that.

Let’s explain what they are and the effects smoking different weed strains has on your body, mind, and general health. I have recently given up, however, would still advocate for the use of weed if treated with respect and consumed in the right way...so here goes.

Indica Strains:

  • Relaxation

  • Sleepiness

  • Pain Relief

  • Relief from Nausea

  • Increase in appetite

  • Lack of whirring thoughts (if in, e.g. a sales positions etc/after a long day)

The majority of people use Indica at night time, before they are about to go to sleep, as it’s extremely relaxing, and can send you off to night night without you even realising it...

Indica strains have been known to increase the production of dopamine throughout the body, so a lot of people use this strain for it’s ‘controlling pleasure attributes’ also.

Don’t be lured in...as it can trick you into believing life is great, when you could be using it as an escape route (this is where addiction starts to come into play).

So you know what you’re looking for - Indica plants are normally shorter, bushier, and wider in shape/size - they also tend to grow faster than Sativa plants.

Sativa Strains:

  • Slow down aggressively anxious thoughts

  • Treating depression

  • Chronic pain

  • Positive mood changing effects

  • Creativity

  • Focus

  • Known to increase serotonin

Users would predominantly smoke this during the day time, as it’s a bit more of an ‘upper’ than an Indica Strain

Before you go:

Understanding the two, and understanding yourself, are both extremely important before consuming weed, mainly because people use it as an escape route from reality. This is rarely a good idea and can cause you to fixate on doing this daily.

As a smoker of 7 years, up to 7grams a day - I would regulate use, if you smoke daily for a week, take the weekend off - if you smoke for 2 weeks straight...take a week off...Or, just smoke on alternate days, allowing your body to get back to its centre.

Here’s a little clip from the weed GOAT advocate (not talking about DMT for once)...

Happy blunting.
